On June 3, 2019, FMEA has been released to accommodate the new requirement of the industry to both fulfil the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) & VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie) (German Automotive Industry Association) requirement, which supersedes AIAG 4th. Edition FMEA and VDA volume 4. The driving force behind this revised publication is to reduce the complexity and confusion of the North American and the German’s OEMs in assessing their products’ failure modes and effects differently because of the differences in the use of the different ranking tables and approaches. In the new edition, application of Five-T’s during planning phase, New 7 steps approach, New severity, occurrence and detection tables, New Action Priority Tables (AP) will be introduced and a supplemental FMEA for Monitoring and System Response (FMEA-MSR) has been added to the traditional method.
